Video: Fulton J. Sheen exposes Satan & his Tactics

Upon viewing this, I had two thoughts:
1) It speaks to the state of the culture and society today when you think that this man and his preaching were what people tuned into 50 years ago on TV. Today, they get the secular humanist snake oil of the irreverent atheist Bill Maher,the new age paganism of Oprah Winfrey and the hedonistic moral relativism that is MTV.
2)It broke my heart to see this when i think at how so many preachers of all denominations shrink back from telling it like it is, afraid to offend. Afraid to offend man.... when it is only the judgement of ONE that will matter in the end, and by not speaking the truth in love, it is he they have offended... and they will answer for all the lost souls who could have been saved if only the truth they had been entrusted to speak was spoken in fullness. Ezekiel 33 comes to mind.
This talk is almost 40 minutes long but worth every minute you will spend watching it.

He is the chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Development and Peace: A Cancer in the Church that Needs to be Excised.

This morning, I nearly stormed out of the church. They had allowed a presentation by the organization known as Development & Peace which partners with organizations that promote abortion, birth control, and radical environmentalism, all of which go against official church teaching.

We all know about their unholy alliances with pro-abortion groups, but this year it went much further. It was a 7 minute spiel about global warming and environmentalism. Pure political propaganda cloaked with a veneer of "christianese" words tossed in. If not for the fact that, after confession this morning, I was warned these people were going to speak ,and that I prayed for self control, I most certainly would have gotten up and walked out and possibly given them a piece of my mind. I know some other people who did.

I watched in sadness as many fellow parishoners heeded their call to sign "solidarity cards" and gave donations, knowing that this would only delay the day when D&P would have to re-evaluate its relationships with such groups that work against the church.

Don't these people know that it is impossible to ally oneself with the anti-global warming crowd and the people who go along with it. The D&P activists themeselves cannot be unaware, given the fact that D&Ps alliannces have been exposed that they are sending a contradictory message to the people when they turn a blind eye to church teaching? To subscribe to the heresy of anthropogenic global warming is to agree, eventually to throw the church teachings on contraception, abortion and marriage under the bus in the name of "social justice".

I took the step of asking my priest to please forward the above video on the global warming movement to the Bishop, in the hope that he will join the fight to reform D&P, whose aims are worthwhile, but whose alliances are undermining the church they represent
